Running out of battery at the airport is more common than it should be, and the free wifi can be hit or miss depending on where you sit. The good news is most terminals have more options than they first appear to.

Start by looking near the seating areas closest to the windows or along the main corridors. Power sockets are often built into the base of chairs or hidden under the armrests. Some newer gates have dedicated charging stations with multiple plugs and even wireless pads. If those are taken, walk a bit further toward the quieter ends of the terminal where fewer people bother to look. The sockets by the toilets or near the information desks are frequently free.

A small power bank in your bag solves most of the panic. Charge it at home and keep it topped up so you are not hunting for a free plug at the worst moment. If you do need a wall socket, avoid the ones right by the busiest cafes because those disappear first. Look instead for the ones along the walls between gates, they tend to stay available longer.

Wifi is usually free once you are past security, but the signal strength changes from one area to another. The strongest spots are often near the main seating clusters or close to the boarding gates themselves. Move a few metres if the connection drops, sometimes that is all it takes. Connecting is normally straightforward, select the network, accept the terms, and you are online. Keep in mind that busy periods can slow everything down, so download anything important before you rely on it.

One practical habit is to charge while you do something else. Sit down with a coffee, plug in, and sort your messages or just rest. That way the phone is ready by the time boarding starts. If the terminal is really crowded and every socket is taken, the departure lounge or a quieter corridor further along often has options the main halls do not.

Check the boards now and then so you do not get too comfortable and miss a gate change. A charged phone and a working connection make the wait far less frustrating, and both are easier to find once you know where to look.
